Sarah Silverman Tonight, Tenacious D Saturday @ WTF?! Fest 2009

October 14th, 2009

LAist reports:

You know The Actors’ Gang as one of Southern California’s premiere places for playwrights, actors, directors, and anyone with a serious interest in theatre. You’re probably also familiar with its Artistic Director, Tim Robbins. But, as is always the case with the Gang, the things they’re up to down there in the Substation transcend one man. The WTF?! Festival is about the art world at large, and finding ways to combine tighter purse strings with more openness and cultural relevance, especially in Los Angeles.

Tonight, the will have a screening of Sarah Silverman’s “Jesus is Magic” and afterward she will be on hand for a Q&A, which you can be pretty sure will be laden with F-Bombs.

We just checked the WTF?! Fest website and there are a few tickets still available.  Jack Black’s Tenacious D (I bet the other dude gets pissed that no one ever mentions him) will also be performing live on Saturday.   Check the site for details and ticket info.  Apparently money from these events goes to support the arts and various pretentious celebrity pet-charities, so if you’re into that thing, it’s an added bonus.

A large private memorial was held for Patrick Swayze on the Sony Pictures lot on Sunday.

People Magazine writes:

Guests arriving for Patrick Swayze’s private memorial on Sunday were greeted by a lone white horse, which was owned and beloved by the late actor whose boots were facing backwards in the stirrups.

Held on the Sony Studios lot in Culver City, Calif., the service – attended by several hundred friends and family, including Whoopi Goldberg – incorporated many photos of Swayze riding his horses, along with a video tribute to the star, who died from pancreatic cancer on Sept. 14.
