dineLA Restaurant Week Gets Extended Oct 18th through Oct 23rd!

October 15th, 2009

Well, just when I was about to make a post letting folks know that dineLA’s Fall Restaurant Week was coming to a close tomorrow, I popped over to my friend’s site Hills of Woodland and got the pleasant news that they are extending it for another full week!

As he points out, not all of the restaurants may be extending the promotion, but people are invited to check the dineLA site on October 18th for the updated list of restaurants:

dineLA Restaurant Week is being extended Oct. 18-23! Check back Saturday, Oct. 17 for the list of extending restaurants.

I’m very stoked as I haven’t had a chance to take advantage of the promotion just yet! Hopefully I can squeeze it in next week!

The Point Returns

October 8th, 2009

Hayden Tract workers rejoice, as you have a new revised lunch option.  Per EaterLA, The Point, formerly owned and operated by Kazuto Matsusaka (of Becon), has been resurrected by Capinelle’s Jay Perrin and Mark Peel.

The Point is now open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.  The breakfast and lunch menu is supported by a modest (in price and quantity)  wine list, for those needing a bottle of vino at lunch to face the rest of the work day.

Eater LA: Riva shutting down, second Fraîche location moving in. Is Travi out?

October 7th, 2009

Eater LA reports that Santa Monica’s Riva (312 Wilshire Blvd. Santa Monica) will shut down October 14th, and second location for Fraîche (current location is at 9411 Culver Blvd. in Culver City) will soon take over the location.  They also claim to have the possible scoop that chef and partner Jason Travi may be on his way out with the company.  If Travi is out, it’s our guess Fraîche will probably go down hill.  Stay tuned.
